O_o I tried to install a different program to have the same results. I went to look for the dvd player do a manual install, but there was not a listed DVD player. I never had the installation to the program menu.
I can here fan start when I put the disc. This morning, I tried to install a software scrapbook. I don't know when the problem first occurred. If it doesn t help I would try a driver update from the official website of Toshiba chipset. After that, the USB ports will be recognized again and you are able to use them. If peripheral USB do some problems I would try to remove the USB ports from the Device Manager (right click > uninstall) and restart your computer. Have you tried other USB devices on your Portege R700 if they work properly?
